Description

Just 500 metres on foot from the train station, 700 metres from Antwerp International School, close to the cycle highway and motorway to the Netherlands, Veltwijcklaan is in a really strategic spot, diagonally opposite Hof De Bist park, with the gorgeous Oude Landen, where Galloway cattle graze, just around the corner.

This modern design by architect Zoltan Janko is situated on a large plot of 1998 m². It follows the sloping plot boundary and, for maximum peace and privacy, the ground floor has been deliberately designed to be discreet and closed off from the street.

Carport with plenty of parking spaces and a very spacious entrance with pivoting door. This separate volume is perpendicular to the plot, forming an additional sound buffer for the living room behind it. Through the double glass door, you enter this double-height living space, where you can immediately enjoy the beautiful view of the garden. Dining room on the right and spacious sitting area with ceiling up to the ridge on the left. Behind the wide sliding door, you will find the large kitchen with SMEG gas stove and super cool island with seating area. Aperitifs or breakfast with a view of the sheep in the lovely garden? That never gets boring. The handy door to the carport is ideal for unloading your shopping. Large basement with laundry room and storage room.

The modern staircase leads to +1, with an ultra-large bathroom (three sinks, large bathtub and double rain shower), dressing room, master bedroom and three identical, smaller bedrooms with fitted wardrobes. The mezzanine is currently used as a home office. Occasionally, a (usually electric) freight train passes by the plot (except on Sundays and public holidays).

owner speaks out

Our children grew up here in peace and safety, with many schools nearby and in a pleasant neighbourhood. What appealed to us from the start was the freedom and privacy: no neighbours looking in, but always a view of our beautifully landscaped garden, which brings colour and atmosphere in every season.
The large terrace, under the multi-stemmed trees, is our favourite place in the summer. Together with the garden, it forms a real extra living space, where we could enjoy playing, barbecuing and relaxing in the open air to the full.
Another big plus is the beautiful Hof de Bist park, diagonally opposite our house. It's ideal for walking, jogging or taking the children to the playground. Ekeren is a somewhat quieter district of Antwerp, yet the connections to Antwerp are excellent. You can quickly reach the heart of the city by bike or train, so peace and accessibility go hand in hand here.
Inside, our architecturally designed home offers plenty of light and an open layout, giving the house a pleasant and spacious feel. We also always had a great relationship with our lovely neighbours. And perhaps most unique of all: the mornings when we see our Ouessant sheep grazing peacefully in the garden while we eat breakfast. That feeling of tranquillity and connection with nature is what makes this house so special to us. Did you know that our house is featured on the Ekeren Architecture Cycle Route?
